Women's Health Physical Therapy

Women’s health physical therapy addresses conditions that affect women across the lifespan.  There are various diagnoses that affect primarily women or affect women differently than men.  At Andersonville Physical Therapy, we treat patients with the following conditions:

Pregnancy/Postpartum pain or dysfunction: Physical therapy can alleviate pain and/or dysfunction associated with pregnancy and post-partum. Common conditions that we treat include

  • Neck/back pain
  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • Sciatica
  • Diastasis recti
  • Carpal tunnel
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Pelvic ligament strain
  • Pubic symphysis pain

Pre- or post - surgical pain: Abdominal or pelvic surgery can disrupt connective tissue or joint alignment, create scar tissue or adhesions, and cause symptoms of pain and loss of function. We can work with you to improve your deep-muscle strength and stability, functional mobility, and endurance to get you back to your activities of choice.

Pelvic pain or dysfunction: Common conditions we treat include, but are not limited to

  • Incontinence
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Pelvic organ prolapse.

Our pelvic physical therapy program is specifically designed to help women suffering from these conditions.

Cancer: We can help restore your normal joint motion, strength, and function following a mastectomy, gynecological surgery/tumor removal, chemotherapy or radiation.

Osteoporosis/Osteopenia: Weakened bones can increase the risk of fracture.  To increase the strength of your bones, we'll provide you with an exercise program that includes resistance strengthening and weight bearing exercises, such as walking. To help you prevent falls, your physical therapist will also work on your balance and posture.

Andersonville Physical Therapy is here to help you recover from surgery, pain or loss of function due to a women's health problem.  Find out how we can help you by calling our Chicago office at (773) 907-3599 today.
