Hello All -
This month's article is an updated version of one that we ran about 18 months ago. The number one thing that our patients say to us during their rehabilitation is, "I am so much more aware of my posture and how I move during the day." If you are serious about rehabilitating your chronic aches and pains it is imperative that you become aware of your current patterns, and then make the necessary changes in your posture and movement. The first step is learning the basics so you can begin the journey of learning correct movement patterns. The article below discusses the most basic principles of movement: the planes of motion.

Happy Holidays!
I hope you are surviving this busy season. We are very excited about our new Movement Education Center course offerings. This January we will offer our first yoga class at APT! We will begin our exploration of this powerful exercise tool while teaching a balanced, neutral joint and whole body alignment. Our Pilates for Aging Gracefully Class is an excellent option for those of you who want to do Pilates but have a hard time getting down on the floor. Exercises in this class are performed while sitting on a chair or in standing, using the chair for balance. Check out these offerings in this month's newsletter.

November 2011 Letter From the Editors
Hi all:
This month we are again reviewing the march exercise, which is a very important exercise for pelvic stability. However, this time we are adding a little twist. Be sure to check out the excise of the month below so you can see how we have made this basic exercise more challenging and functional! On November 15th we are also starting our first Healthy Body Pilates 2 class. For all of you who have taken Healthy Body Pilates and need a jump-start to your exercise program this is the perfect class. The class will move a little faster and cover intermediate level Pilates exercises. It will be co-taught by a physical therapist and pilates instructor with the focus on transitioning you to fitness level exercise classes. Also, give the gift of wellness this holiday season with Pilates special.
Have a good Month!

Hi All -
In this month's newsletter we have a great article about the most basic lumbar stabilization exercise: the march. Take your time reading it and be sure to practice it a few times - it is actually really simple. We are offering our first free community education course this month. I am very excited to be teaching Nordic Walking with Poles. This class is great way to work on your walking, get upper body strengthening and cardiovascular exercise. See below for details. In our community section, we highlight a great addition to the neighborhood: Urban Orchard. This neighborhood grocery store has an excellent selection of local produce, organic meats and artisan foods.
Have a good October!
